Project Place (first) is established.

1967

Founded by seminarian Peter Callaway and others, it is located initially in Harvard Square. Its purpose is to provide services to the growing number of runaway young people, hippies, and street people flocking to Boston. The organization subsequently opens a halfway house at 31 1/2 Dwight Street and a drop-in center at 32 Rutland Street. Staff live in a commune at 529 Massachusetts Avenue. The organization moves its headquarters into a new building on Washington Street in 2008.*
